Fang Xianzhi (1906-1968) was a famous specialist of orthopedics. He once served as director of Tianjin Orthopedics Hospital and member of the standing committee of Tianjin Municipal Political Consultative Conference.

The residence is a 2-storied brick-wood building. The exterior is plastered surface, embellished with irregular glazed quarry tiles. The lines are rigid and form an organic whole. The building has Art Deco characteristics.
