Bargain hunters pushed Chinese equities to recover from a decline over the previous four trading days and close higher on midday Wednesday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.67 percent to close at 2,999.62 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.79 percent to 11,629.72 points.
