Echoing an overnight Wall Street rally,Chinese equities opened slightly higher Wednesday, ending the decline over the past two trading days.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.16 percent, to open at 2,984.62 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index went up 0.17 percent to 11,557.6 points.
