Ambassador Ranjith Uyangoda is a career diplomat, who is now served as Sri Lankan Ambassador to the People's Republic of China.

He has held many positions at the Ministry of External Affairs including Additional Secretary for the United Nations, Economic Affairs, South Asia & SAARC, Public Communications and Overseas Administration; Director-General of the United Nations Division, Public Communications Division and South Asia & SAARC Division and Director at the Consular Division.

He has also served as Third / Second Secretary at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia, Counsellor at the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi, Ambassador / Deputy Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York, Acting High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Canada and as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan.
