The Panathinaiko or Panathenaic Stadium, also known as the Kallimarmaro meaning in Greek "beautifully marbled", is the stadium that hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens. It is in this stadium that the Chinese delegation for Beijing 2008 received the Olympic Flame to carry it on to Beijing.[China.org.cn]
