The North American Aerospsace Defense Command (NORAD) says two US Air Force F-15 fighters intercepted a small plane flying near Camp David, the presidential retreat, the Washington Post reports.

The fighters met the civil aircraft on Saturday afternoon about 11 miles from Camp David and escorted it out of the area without incident.

NORAD spokeswoman Stacey Knott said the interception was out of an "abundance of caution" because it was out of radio contact, adding that it did not appear to pose any threat, according to the AFP.?
