South Korea's Army Chief of Staff Hwang Ui-don offered to retire, Seoul's Ministry of National Defense confirmed to Xinhua on Tuesday.

In earlier reports, local media said Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Han Min-Goo also offered to retire, but the defense ministry said it has no any information about Han.

South Korea's presidential office Cheong Wa Dae has accepted Hwang's offer, according to Seoul's all-news network YTN.
