The public support rate for Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan's Cabinet declined to 25 percent, marking its lowest level since June when it was inaugurated, a latest poll conducted by the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper revealed on Monday.

The support rate for Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan's Cabinet stood at 32.7 percent in a Kyodo News survey conducted in early November.

The survey by the major newspaper showed 45 percent of respondents believed Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshito Sengoku should step down.

In addition, 83 percent of the respondents held that Cabinet is not appropriately tackling the current economic situation marked by deflation and the rising yen.
