Soaring temperatures and continuous rainfall have melted snow, causing floods in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The floods have caused heavy economic losses in the Yili and Altay prefectures.

Local Official, Altay Prefecture, said, "In Altay alone, the losses have reached 80 million yuan. The local government has earmarked 65 million yuan to protect local residents' livelihoods. We have taken effective measures to keep losses at their lowest level. So far, there have been no casualties."
