The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region plans to invest over 60 billion yuan in constructing 5 highways totaling 850 kilometers in the next five years, according to Ningxia Transportation Department on December 8.
The highways are expected to connect Ningxia with northern, eastern and southwestern China, West and Southeast Asia, and Arab States. “By 2020, the road mileage open to traffic across Ningxia is expected to total 36,000 kilometers with that of highways totaling 2,000 kilometers,” said Xu Xuemin, the director of Ningxia Department of Transportation.
