The electronic waste disposal, particularly that stemming from old computers and computer monitors, is the main source of pollution at this dumpsite in Ghana's capital, Accra. Men, women and a significant amount of children, crudely break, smash or burn discarded circuit boards and other discarded electronics without the proper protection, trying to recover power supply housings, circuit boards, wires and small capacitors. In this case, the toxins have entered the soil and air, threatening local people's lives.
