The Hospital Authority of Hong Kong announced Tuesday another fatal case of influenza A/H1N1, bringing to 60 the total number of fatal cases of the flu.

A 60-year-old male patient with terminal stage myeloma attended the Accident and Emergency Department of UCH on Jan. 16 with fever and flu-like symptoms. The patient was admitted to the medical ward and was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics, said the authority.

Positive result for A/H1N1 flu was confirmed on Jan. 17 and he succumbed at 10:39 a.m. on Jan. 19.

The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Center for Health Protection.
