Adjust font size:

Chief Japanese delegate said in Beijing Wednesday the six parties to the talks on Korean nuclear issue will touch upon their respective stances on how to implement the joint statement reached in September.

Japan will "actively voice its opinions in detail on how to implement the agreement", Kenichiro Sasae told reporters when leaving the hotel for the fifth round of the six-party talks.

A joint statement was adopted at the fourth round of the six-party talks held in September. In the agreement, North Korea agreed to abandon all nuclear weapons while existing nuclear programs in exchange for energy aid and security guarantees.

Sasae hoped North Korea could implement the September landmark agreement.

The six-party talks involve China, North Korea, the United States, South Korea, Russia and Japan.

China has hosted four rounds of six-party talks since August 2003.
