Second Batch of Chinese Peacekeepers Leaves for Liberia

A 283-strong Chinese team that is a part of the UN peacekeeping mission in Liberia left Beijing on Thursday for Monrovia.

 

The second batch of the third group peace-keepers China had sent to Liberia comprises 140 engineers, 120 transport specialists and 23 medical staff from the Beijing Military Area Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The first batch of 275 peace-keepers in the third group have already arrived in Liberia.

 

The engineers will mainly work on road and bridge construction, maintenance and renovation of buildings and airports, and water and electricity supplies.

 

The medical detachment will be responsible for treating sick or wounded soldiers and carry out epidemic prevention.
