Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Liangyu visited workers at several major construction projects yesterday to express the city's gratitude for their efforts in the recent scorching weather.

At Shanghai Port's passenger transfer hub, Chen asked workers about their work
schedules, food and sleep patterns. He urged the workers to focus on quality and safety on the job and to take care in the hot weather.
Chen and other city officials followed up their thanks with insect repellent, towels and bottled water.
The passenger hub, covering 400,000 square meters along the Huangpu River, is expected to be completed in 2008.
