| Representatives from over 40 countries and regions kicked off a ministerial meeting in Phuket on Jan. 28 to discuss how to proceed with a regional tsunami early warning system, including the location of such a system. At the meeting, Thailand proposed a multi-layer warning system at national, sub-regional, regional and international levels, as an apparent comprise acceptable to all countries. |
