Veteran Chinese playwright Wu Zuguang has died from coronary heart disease at the age of 86.
During his lifetime, he wrote many scripts for a wide variety of art forms including Peking Opera, local operas such as pingju and modern plays. He has also directed several films and documentaries which recorded the lives of prestigious Peking Opera artists including Mei Lanfang and Cheng Yanqiu.
Wu Zuguang?s masterpieces include the pingju film script of Flower as Our Matchmaker in 1964. His wife Xin Fengxia, a well-known pingju artist's performance in the film is still acclaimed today.
