The Shanghai Spirit

On June 15, 2001, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan announced the establishment of a permanent inter-governmental international organization: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In the course of their cooperation, these six member countries have developed a spirit, known as the “Shanghai Spirit,” which features mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity, and pursuit of common development. This is a valuable cultural resource created by the countries concerned, which embodies the common wish of their peoples for peace and development.

上海精神

2001年6月,中俄哈吉塔烏等六國在上海宣布成立永久性政府間國際組織——上海合作組織。在成員國相互協(xié)作過程中逐步形成了以“互信、互利、平等、協(xié)商、尊重多樣文明、謀求聯(lián)合發(fā)展”為基本內(nèi)容的“上海精神”,成為本地區(qū)國家積累的寶貴精神財富。多年來,上海合作組織保持強勁發(fā)展勢頭,成為促進地區(qū)安全穩(wěn)定和發(fā)展繁榮的重要建設性力量,根本原因在于始終遵循“上海精神”、不斷加強團結(jié)互信。“上海精神”表達了各成員國人民的共同愿望,順應了和平與發(fā)展的時代主流,已成為上海合作組織的核心價值。
