Complete Pottery Kilns Discovered in Shanxi

Two ruins dating back to the Zhou Dynasty (11c.-221BC) have been unearthed in Xiangfen County, north China's Shanxi Province.

The discovery has thrown light on the study of productivity development from the Western Zhou Dynasty (11.C-771BC) to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty(770-221BC).

The ruins are located between Dazhang Village and Nanxiaozhang Village. A house in the shape of a pit has been excavated with a large amount of ash holes and tow pottery kilns, one of which is complete and undamaged. It is rare to find such one dating back to the same times in China.

Unearthed are a total of 250 objects, 100 of which are porcelain, 30 stone implements e.g. stone axes, stone shovels and stone knives.
