A 51-year-old American has visited 26 Chinese cities on foot, donating 500 yuan (US$64) to the Red Cross in each city.

He came to China to do the walking tour a year ago after his wife died because she had asked him to do so in her will.

 

John first came to China in 1996 with his wife. They were impressed with the beautiful scenery and the poor but hardworking children in Yunnan Province and decided they would return when they retired.
