Born November 19 1908in Hunan Province and died June 3 1969. General Xu Guanda served as the PLA Armored Forces Commander and the Vice Minister of the Defense Ministry. Xu Guangda was conferred the rank of army general in 1955.

In September 1955, Premier Zhou Enlai conferred the certificate of army general to Xu Guangda (the first from left) and others.
In December 1953, the Armored Corps held its first ceremony to present awards to those who have made meritorious service was held in Beijing. Zhu De (front right 2), Xu Guangda(front right 3),Gan Siqi (front right 1) with meritorious servicemen.
