Exhibition in Memory of Liang Sicheng Opens
An exhibition was open Sunday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Liang Sicheng, an outspoken Chinese architect who strongly lobbied for the protection of the old walls of Beijing.

The exhibition, which is scheduled to last through April 13, is sponsored by the Architecture Institute of Qinghua University, the magazine of "World Architecture", and the Zeng Li Designing Office.

Seventy-two exhibits have been collected from 22 universities and architectural institutes across the country.

Liang Sicheng is the son of Liang Qichao, a well-known Chinese thinker in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and returned from the United States after studying there.

Liang is the author of China's first History on Chinese Architecture and founder of the Architecture Department of Qinghua University. He died in Beijing in 1972.
