Children in Shanghe County, Shandong Province, are taking Yangge folk dance courses in school.

The county's local Yangge dance was enlisted as a National-level Intangible Cultural Heritage item in 2006. Teenagers are now the new hope for preserving the traditional art form.

More children are getting to know of their own hometown treasure thanks to their Yangge dance class. Some troupes formed in the school represented the province in various national shows and competitions.
