The social order in the quake-hit Yushu prefecture in northwest China's Qinghai Province remained stable with no crime reported for three consecutive days, the Ministry of Public Security has said.

There were no crimes reported from Wednesday to Friday in Yushu, the ministry's quake relief headquarters said.

Meanwhile, local police authorities had uncovered a total of 40 theft cases and arrested over 40 suspects as of 4 p.m. Thursday, the ministry said.

Local police and special police officers had strengthened patrols of streets as well as around shelter centers and relief supplies centers after the quake.

Any actions that could disturb social order had promptly been dealt with and any illegal or criminal activities had been severely cracked down on, the ministry said.

The 7.1-magnitude quake that struck Qinghai on April 14 has left at least 2,192 dead, 78 missing and more than 12,000 injured, along with huge economic losses.
