MACAO, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Macao's broad money supply continued to expand in October, with M2 edging up 0.1 percent to 837.0 billion patacas (about 104.2 billion U.S. dollars), the Monetary Authority of Macao released on Friday.

M1 fell 1.9 percent as demand deposits declined, while quasi-monetary liabilities rose 0.3 percent, the authority said.

Figures showed that resident deposits and public sector deposits rose 0.1 percent and 2.3 percent, respectively, yet total banking deposits fell 0.2 percent due to a drop in non-resident deposits.

Total loans slipped to 1,021.0 billion patacas, as domestic loans fell 0.3 percent despite a slight rise in external lending, the authority said. The non-performing loan ratio held steady at 5.4 percent. Enditem
