Gong Yan, a Chinese mainland tourist missing since October 21 was confirmed dead Thursday according to the local prosecutors office.

A rescue team found her remains in the sea near Ilan County, and DNA identification confirmed the identity, the office said.

Yan was part of a group of twenty mainland tourists who went missing in the island after Typhoon Megi triggered a number of landslides. No others in the group have been confirmed dead.
