?China's Chief Justice has asked judges nationwide to strengthen and innovate efforts to solve social disputes.

Wang Shengjun, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), made the remark during his four-day inspection tour into the justice system in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, which ended Thursday.

Wang told the judges to become more skilled in solving disputes through mediation.

"Mediation must be carried out in accordance with laws and the litigants' real intention," he said.

Wang also urged courts to carry out mediation in cooperation with other social organizations such as neighborhood committees in the communities, trade unions and women' s federations.

While intensifying management of judicial work to ensure justice, regular checks should be made to review the courts' judicial work to prevent possible mistakes and miscarriages of justice, Wang said.
