The mainland's quality watchdog said Monday that it has decided to lift the ban on food imports from Taiwan as the island has recalled and destroyed all DEHP-tainted food products.

The decision took effect Jan. 5, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.

AQSIQ also released a list of Taiwan companies whose products are again allowed to enter the mainland's market if the products were manufactured after Aug. 1, 2011.

Mainland importers don't have to submit DEHP-free test reports when going through customs from Jan. 5, the statement said.

Meanwhile, AQSIQ asked quality watchdogs at all levels to continue strict monitoring of Taiwan-produced additives and food to ensure safety.

In June, the mainland suspended more than 1,000 types of food imports from Taiwan as they were believed to be contaminated with plasticizer.
