Chinese stock markets opened lower Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index losing 4.42 points, or 0.18 percent, to open at 2,393.95.

The Shenzhen Component Index dipped 10.86 points, or 0.12 percent, to open at 9,376.08.
