Chinese shares opened higher Thursday after the sharpest plunge in seven weeks on Wednesday on central bank's move to raise the reserve requirement ratio.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.34 percent to open at 3,183.38 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.16 percent to open at 13,037.80 points.
