Yangtze Salt tide Returns to Normal
Adjust font size:

A salt tide at the mouth of the Yangtze River that had endangered the tap water source for millions of local residents is ebbing, thanks to a water level rise in the Yangtze River, according to Shanghai Water Authority.

Currently, Chenhang Reservoir, located on the Yangtze River in Baoshan District, for collecting the fresh water of the Yangtze, was little affected by the tide. The reservoir's water level measured a record low on March 3, endangering fresh water supply to the city's six water plants using the Yangtze water for tap water treatment.
