Ten key projects focusing on industrial coordination and cultural tourism were unveiled at a forum on western Beijing development in Shijingshan district on Thursday.

The projects highlight new approaches to technological innovation, urban space development, and cultural tourism integration for the area. They include a model section of the "Two Parks, One River" zone in Shijingshan, the second phase of urban renewal for Changxindian Old Town in Fengtai district, and new water sports facilities by Beijing Water Investment Group.

Among the model section projects shown at this event, four recently completed sites attracted approximately 755,000 visits during the recent China International Fair for Trade in Services.

One project – the first phase of Chaowan Yuexiang Waterside – has created new commercial and ecological spaces by the water. Another has improved sightlines and access to a historic area with ancient architecture.

Shijingshan also announced six major projects integrating cultural, tourism, commercial, sports, and exhibition resources for the coming year. These will expand recreational watersides, renew an old irrigation canal, and transform industrial buildings into dining and arts hubs. A marathon base in the Winter Olympic Park will be upgraded into a year-round sports venue.

In Fengtai, the second phase of the Changxindian Old Town renewal will add hotels, commerce, and cultural services to create a model community that blends historical heritage with modern function.

The new water sports initiative will link several lakes. Each lake will feature a different theme, from beginner-friendly paddle boarding to professional rowing and scenic camping, connected by trails and bike paths.
