The Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce today released its 2025 "Happy Shopping Town" list, selecting 34 towns and sub-districts across the province. Among them is Cuizhu sub-district in Luohu district, home to Shenzhen's renowned Shuibei area, widely regarded as the heart of China's gold and jewelry industry.

Cuizhu sub-district, known nationally as the "Jewelry Capital of China," hosts the country's largest, most advanced, and most complete jewelry industry cluster. The area is home to more than 6,000 enterprises and accounts for roughly 50% of China's wholesale gold and jewelry market. Its industrial influence is further reflected in its consumption of 70% of the physical gold delivered through the Shanghai Gold Exchange and 80% of the diamond import volume processed by the Shanghai Diamond Exchange. Nearly 50 homegrown brands, including major names such as Chow Tai Seng, Zhou Liu Fu, and CuiLu Jewelry, are headquartered here.

For visitors, Shuibei offers an immersive gateway into the world of jewelry. The district's dense cluster of showrooms and workshops provides a rare opportunity to explore cutting-edge design, emerging trends, and exceptional craftsmanship. Its glittering storefronts also make for striking, gem-toned photo backdrops.

A cultural highlight within the area is the Shenzhen Jewelry Museum, conveniently located within the complex. Its permanent exhibition spans five major sections, showcasing the brilliance of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, cat's eye gemstones, and pearls. The museum also features demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage techniques, including the millennia-old art of filigree.

The "Happy Shopping Town" designation reflects an experience that extends well beyond retail. Shuibei will host weekly events ranging from food festivals and themed street activities to exhibitions and livestreamed sales promotions. With more than 3,000 dining establishments, the area offers a vibrant lifestyle ecosystem. Luohu is also accelerating development of the Shuibei Gold and Jewelry Consumption Block, aiming to create a one-stop destination that integrates jewelry culture, gourmet dining, entertainment, and family-friendly experiences.
