China's leading video streaming platform Bilibili announced Tuesday it is upgrading its 2025 New Year's Eve Gala, expanding the event into a combined online and offline celebration aimed at young people.

This year's gala, titled "The Most Beautiful Night of 2025," will retain its signature mix of symphonic music and themes drawn from film, anime and video games, showcasing trends in contemporary youth pop culture.

The lineup was also revealed Wednesday, with popular Chinese artists Ayanga, Zhou Shen and Wang Feng set to perform. The event also features a global roster of performers from North America, France, Finland and Africa, including singer Carly Rae Jepsen and guitarist Marty Friedman.

The company is rebranding the festivities under the project name "Our New Year's Eve," which will integrate the main gala, its regional "Toast Night" events, and an inaugural fireworks display.

Bilibili plans to host "Toast Night" gatherings in 10 cities across China. These offline events will feature large-screen livestreams of the main gala, allowing attendees to participate in activities such as digital check-ins for "wish coins" and a midnight "snowfall" countdown. According to company statistics, last year's "Toast Night" events drew a cumulative 20 million participants.

For the first time, the platform will host a New Year's fireworks show. The event will blend a physical launch of 10,000 fireworks and drone performances with a digital feature that converts user comments — known as "bullet screens" — into on-screen virtual fireworks.

Bilibili reported a record 376 million monthly active users as of the third quarter of 2025. Its New Year's Eve gala has evolved from a digital broadcast into an annual tradition for young people. The platform said it is meeting diverse youth needs by moving from online viewing to offline participation, enriching its offerings and strengthening user bonds.

During the 2024 New Year's period, the platform hosted over 140,000 videos related to New Year's Eve. Within 24 hours of broadcast, the 2024 gala surpassed 100 million views and generated nearly 400,000 bullet-screen comments, while related user-generated content achieved 135 million views.
